The company does not intent to expand dealership networks and is bringing in all the motorcycles through the CBU route. Husqvarna has a rich history and was established in 1903 in Husqvarna, Sweden. It started off producing bicycles and later started making motorcycles. In 1987 Husqvarna became a part of the MV Agusta group and thus its headquarters and manufacturing was shifted to Varese, Italy.
In 2007, BMW purchased Husqvarna and has since then operated it as a separate entity. The German automaker has kept Husqvarna the way it was before the acquisition and the motorcycles continue to be produced in Italy. BMW wants to keep Husqvarna as the 2-wheel version of what MINI is to BMW cars. Today Husqvarna makes a range of motorcycles for Off-road, Supermoto and Street use. The company will be bringing in the street motorcycle Husqvarna Nuda 900R as its first offering for India.
