Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher announces his retirement from Formula 1, admitting "we did not achieve our goals" at Mercedes.The 43-year-old German believes he is "still able and capable to compete" against the fastest drivers on the grid but accepts that "it's good to say goodbye".The former Ferrari driver tells of the "release" that the announcement gives him, joking that that this retirement "might be forever", having returned to the sport after quitting in 2006.Schumacher won world titles with Benetton in 1994 and 1995 before moving to Ferrari where he won five consecutive championships between 2000 and 2004.
