The brutal and majestic 6-cylinder engine was torn apart completely and rebuilt to spec, then blasted clean and it received that menacing array of 6 conical carb filters. The generous empty space behind the engine is a perfect optical match for the assuming look of the filters, and it creates the illusion that they could suck you in when the CBX1000 is all revved up.
With the battery hidden low in the swingarm joint area and all the wiring carefully tucked away from sight, the CBX1000 started to look tidier and sportier. So the guys at Custom Tarmac decided to go all the way: the rear was cut down and reshaped to match the attitude of the new machine. A custom rear fender was fabricated and mini blinkers added.
The heavy bike received a CBR front brake master cylinder for firmer stopping power, while the miniature gauge and minimalist headlight offer a beautifully contrasting sight when compared to the huge engine.
The custom exhaust lines are by far the most astonishing detail of the CBX1000: created by Robert of GR Exhaust Systems, it is one of the most complex and intricate similar thing we ever saw. Learning that the owner of the bike wanted it wrapped left the guys at Custom Tarmac aghast, but the result of this painstaking job are simply gorgeous. As a spicy detail, the tank is entirely original, shape, paint and all!
